Trevor McDonald was born on August 16, 1939 in Trinidad, British West Indies as George McDonald. He is an actor, known for Inside Death Row with Trevor McDonald (2013), The National Television Awards (2006) and Women Behind Bars with Trevor McDonald (2013). He is married to Josephine. They have two children.

His first UK employment was with the BBC World Service in 1969. In 1973 he became the first black reporter to work for ITN. Knighted by the Prince of Wales for his outstanding services to broadcasting. [November 1999] Sir Trevor is noted for his speaking voice, which he claims he developed from growing up with and listening to the BBC World Service. Was once voted tie-man of the year. He was awarded the OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) in the 1992 Queen's Honours List and awarded Knight Bachelor of the Order of the British Empire in the 1999 Queen's Honours List for his services to broadcasting.
